PRE-LAUNCH UPDATE 02

After placing ALVAR SAKARI’s first order on the 16th of January, I felt that things were going to move quickly. There is still so much I need to get done in a short amount of time: the website, visual identity, hiring product and marketing photographers, design shipping boxes, labels, stickers, setting up an email address, thank-you cards, learn bookkeeping, product pricing, invoice templates, WordPress – the list goes on. Each decision needs to be precise in order to build and launch the brand identity I want to associate myself with in the future.

For the product visuals, I contacted my dear friend Jean-Sébastien Degni, who works as a film director, videographer, and photographer at his and his partner Alex Hedberg’s newly founded production company, Homesick.

I asked Jean to help me with the product photography and content creation for my first product. He was kind enough to join me for a meeting on Sunday the 18th, and we discussed the concepts and visions for the project together with my girlfriend, Emma, who is always a great sparring partner in anything related to life, art, and design.

On the 20th, Emma and I left for Denmark. We are taking care of Malene Bach’s cat and staying in her house until the 14th of February. We had booked the flights already before Christmas 2025, and it just happened to align perfectly with everything that was going on. The production time estimate was 4 weeks from placing the order, so I agreed with Stål og Form that I was going to pick up the order the 11th of February, which is just a few days before we would fly back home.

As I’m writing this, there are only 11 days until I get to see what they have made. It is super nerve-wracking, but exciting!

Jean and I have decided to shoot the product images the following weekend after I get back from Denmark. I have until then to decide what kind of content I want to shoot, so I need to get more into the specifics soon.

On another note, I had a meeting in Copenhagen regarding the next phases of a summerhouse project, Skovskellet. It is a very exciting project which I am designing together with architect Michael Lynge from Lynge Lynge Arkitekter in northern Zealand, Denmark.

I also visited Pernille from Co.Designstudio, whom I have worked with for many years. I briefly went to see her new office, and then we went down to the soon-to-be ready Admiral Hotel. We did the hotel’s competition proposal together around 2020 and have been working on the project ever since. It was exciting and touching to see all the hundreds of drawings and visualisations come to life. I felt a great sense of accomplishment and pride.

So far everything is going well. There is still a lot to learn and a lot to take care of before the launch of this website and the products. I’m trying to take/make time to reflect on things and enjoy the process. That’s also why I want to write these journals, even if writing is not my strong suit. 🙂
