PRE-LAUNCH UPDATE 01
Today is the last day of January, so I wanted to do a short recap and share some thoughts and insights on starting my own one-man company.
I registered my company the 15th of January, and on the 16th I placed ALVAR SAKARI’s first order: a collectible domestic object produced in a first batch of 30, each individually marked and hand-finished.
The product is made in Denmark by a company called Stål og Form (S&F). They specialize in finely detailed objects, furniture, and architectural elements.
My initial idea and priority was to produce it locally – somewhere in Finland and preferably close to Helsinki, where I live and work. I struggled for about a year trying to find a manufacturer with whom I felt comfortable creating a partnership and a relationship. For me, it was important to know I could trust them – firstly with my (your) objects, and secondly, as people, enthusiasts, and craftsmen.
While doing my research and going through a few rounds of prototyping – of another product that will be released sometime in the future – I found myself drooling over S&F’s work on Instagram. I wanted my products to be produced by them, and I knew I wouldn’t be satisfied with any other option I had at that moment.
I sent S&F an enquiry about this small object that I had been designing and mocking up throughout second half of 2025. They responded that they would love to produce it, and that we should come to an agreement where we both felt fairly compensated and rewarded – and so we did. I took some money from my savings and placed the order.
My first object is finally being produced – in high quality, by highly skilled craftsmen.
